Does this platform service the entire country?

No, www.ihssconnect.com only services the state of California. Please note, you will not be able to search any areas outside of California.

Yes. IHSS Connect is free to use for both recipients and caregivers. Recipients can search caregivers, post unlimited job ads, and use private messaging. Caregivers can activate their provider account and access the job board and messaging tools at no cost.
No. IHSS Connect is a connection platform. It helps recipients and caregivers find each other, communicate privately, and explore care opportunities, but it does not process payments directly on the site. This is consistent with the site’s positioning as an online registry and messaging platform rather than a payment platform.
No. IHSS Connect does not present itself as the employer or payroll processor for caregivers. The platform is designed to help users connect through profiles, job listings, and messaging, not to handle employment tax documents such as W-2s.
No. Recipients should ask caregivers directly about vaccinations, certifications, experience, and any other health or job-related requirements during the hiring process. IHSS Connect facilitates introductions and communication, but users are responsible for evaluating fit and confirming details before moving forward. This aligns with the platform’s safety language and connection-based model.

No. IHSS Connect does not conduct background checks. However, we’ve partnered with Checkr to offer optional background checks that caregivers can choose to complete. Recipients should still conduct their own due diligence before hiring, and providers should do the same before accepting any opportunity. For more information, please review our safety guidelines.

Who is responsible for firing a provider?

The recipient, or their authorized representative, is responsible for the working relationship. That includes interviewing, hiring, scheduling, supervising, and ending the relationship if needed. IHSS Connect does not manage or control employment decisions between recipients and providers.

No. IHSS Connect is a privately owned company and is not operated by, or affiliated with, any city, county, or state government program. 

IHSS Connect supports home care workers across California, including providers for IHSS, WPCS, hospice, palliative care, regional center services, respite care, and day care.
No. Messaging is limited by user type. The platform only allows communication between recipients and providers. Providers cannot message other providers, and recipients cannot message other recipients.

Not directly. Recipients must initiate the conversation first through the messaging system. Once a conversation has started, both parties can continue messaging. Providers can also apply to unlimited job postings and include an message when applying.

To report a member or a safety concern, use the Contact Us page to send a private message to the IHSS Connect team. Reports are handled privately, and the platform states that it takes complaints and member concerns seriously.
